Miley Cyrus Prohibited From Performing In Dominican Republic Because Show Violates Country's 'Morals And Customs'!
A government agency in the country has canceled her September show
Outlandish popstar Miley Cyrus has been banned from performing in the Dominican Republic next month, because a government agency has deemed her shows "morally offensive."
Whether she's dry humping a banana or twerking on a car bonnet, it's a well-known fact that the 21-year-old's shows involve some pretty explicit gestures and it seems the Dominican Republic aren't having any of it.
A government agency has banned Cyrus from performing in the country on September 13 in Santa Domingo because they say the star "undertakes acts that go against morals and customs, which are punishable by Dominican law."
But while Miley has been critcized for her provocative on stage antics, the Adore You hitmaker has said that her shows are merely supposed to empower women, and are not for the pleasure of men.
"The sexual aspect of our show isn't targeted at men ... It's what women think is sexy and cool and strong," she previously told NZ Herald supplement TimeOut.
However, the commission banning Miley from performing in the country are strict when it comes to any material that they consider to be vulgar, and have even banned songs from its airwaves in the past, including some by Puerto Rican band Calle 13.
Meanwhile, it's been announced that the former Disney Star will be attending the MTV VMAs on Sunday night, one place we thought she would have been banned from given her shocking performance last year!
The singer is nominated for 'Best Music Video' for her track, Wrecking Ball.
The eccentric star certainly raised some eyebrows, and dropped some jaws, with her performance at the event last year, after she was seen gyrating on stage with a giant foam finger and twerking up against Robin Thicke during his performance of Blurred Lines.
Although rest assured VMA fans, the star won't be performing this year, instead you can catch performances from the likes of Beyonce (who is nominated in eight categories), Taylor Swift and Iggy Azalea.
