Emir of Kano Wants Divorce Severely Punished

his royal highnes the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi Lamido II has urged the Kano State Government to raise a law that will punish those who end their marriages or divorce their wivies on questionable grounds. his royal higness also lamented the spate of divorce in Kano State, and said there must be punitive steps to reverse the trend, as many residents marriages end on minnor o non considerable reasons. source Premium Times reported that the Emir who also spoke in Kano stste, yesterday, also noted that women are often the most affected after divorce. The worst hit, he said, and they are the uneducated and whose marriages are ended by their husbands over minor matters that can be resolved. his royal highness also said anyone found guilty of divorcing his wife without sufficient reasons will be properly punished or penalized to deter others and help reduce the llarge number of divorce cases in kano state. He also warned his subjects, district heads, ward and village heads against drug addiction, saying he will not hesitate to expel and punish anybody found in drug addiction.
