The Police in Akwa Ibom yesterday arrested a lady named Patience Aaron of Afaha Abia village, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, for  burying her day-old baby alive.

The commissioner of Police, Gabriel Achong, said the baby, who was buried in a shallow grave, was rescued alive about seven hours later.
He also said the woman had been seriously ill since she was arrested and was receiving treatment.
He also said that more than six children who were victims of child theft had been rescued.
Mr. Achong said the command had recovered items and N8.9 million cash from hoodlums who trailed and shot the driver of the manager of a telecommunication company who was on his way to a bank in Ikot Ekpene.
“Four vehicles and N30,000 fake currency notes were also recovered from other operations. One Andre Moses, a driver with Union Bank Plc, Lagos, who absconded with his manager’s Hyundai Jeep with Reg. No. AKD 381 CY to Oron, was also traced and arrested. The suspect confessed to have sold the vehicle to a Ghanaian in Port Harcourt,” the commissioner said.
